Ron Watt – New Senior Men’s Football Coach

St Joseph’s Football and Netball Club is delighted to announce that Ron Watt has signed on as the club’s new Senior Men’s Football Coach.

Having coached GFL and VFL premierships and selected as one of the top 30 footballers in the region, Watt is also a coaching mentor with the AFL Coaches Association. With three decades of football coaching Watt brings enormous experience to Herne Hill Reserve and we are delighted to welcome Ron to our club. Club President Todd Devine commented on the new signing, “most people in Geelong football will know the name Ron Watt. It’s fair to say Ron is a legend on the Geelong football landscape so there’s plenty of excitement about what he will bring to the club. The depth of Ron’s experience and the esteem in which he is held says much about him and his alignment to the Joeys culture. With Sue Cormack taking over as President next year it feels like Joey’s is about to open an exciting new chapter in the Club’s history”.

Talking about his signing Watt said, “Joeys is a club I have always respected, so to sign on as their new senior coach is a privilege. Through the selection process I got a deeper understanding into the club’s values and the importance it places on being invested and connected. As a club it’s not just about on-field field success, but the creation of a community of people who care for each other. Having positive relationships over a long period with many at the club, I am now looking forward to getting to know the Joeys players and all involved at the club”.

Fresh from coaching Gordon to this year’s premiership in the Central Highlands FNL, Watt will commence his role at Joeys immediately.
