Round 9 - Senior Football News
StJoeys mustered up from last week’s lackluster portrayal to execute their most important and impressive victory so far in the 08 season.matthew_bolton_courtesy_of_the_geelong_advertiser.jpg

Firstly, the Reserves – for the second week in a row – had to tackle a very competentand experienced opposition. The boys held on for the majority of the game, sustaining a consistently powerfuloffensive from Bell Park.

Towards the latter part of the third quarter the margin began to be exposed, the boys certainly played fierce football and worked hard to hold the strong forwardline of Bell Park.

SadlyJoey’s didn’t have the muscle to claw back the margin, they did show quite alot of promise, as the youthful team continues to gel together.

Lost to,

Bell Park   12.  8. 80

The spectacle of theday arrived at the first bounced of the seniors match and continued for the next four quarters of play.  StJoseph’s Seniors provided a feast of excitement and shear hardness to defeat aconfident and impressionable Bell Park.

With the hearty backlineonce again standing tall in each and every contest, the standout performer was Matt Burn, who proved his talent in the GFL by holding the Leagues Leading GoalKicker - Jarrod Garth, to only one goal in the game, with a large heightdifference and a reputation to boot, Matt maintained his growing reputation asarguably the most dependable Full Backs in the competition.

Joey’s at no stage looked like letting the highly tipped Bell Park into the game, theywere fierce from the word go and displayed some rapid fire action all day tothe rather large crowd at Drew Reserve – especially for the fashionable andvery attractive crowd attending the St Joey’s ladies lunch.
