The boys have shown all season their willingness to get back on the job and not let the previous weeks results distract them from the task ahead. Keep challenging yourself lads!
Senior football team received warning during Saturdays game, which came in the form of critical and self-inflicted mistakes will in the critical dying moments of the game and will surely dent any chances of a finals berth. After last weeks marvelous victory over the highly tipped Bell Park, St Joey’s took on Grovedale at Burdoo Reserve who delivered the expected pressure that we should expect every time we travel to Grovedale. After being in control for most of the second half, lapses in concentration late in the game and time after time the ball was turned over, missed its intended player, given away through free kicks. At various stages throughout the game, Joey’s were in the lead and controlled this with intent, yet when it mattered in the final minutes of the last quarter the we inexplicably lost that determination which had secured victory in weeks prior.
Josh Rudd’s interrupted season continued when he suffered a broken cheekbone in the play in the first few minutes of the game, whilst Corey Bauer was a late withdrawal leaving the forward line undermanned. The likes of the Lovick Brothers, Matt Burn, Nick Danielle, Tom Balding and Justin Hope all worked solidly to hang on to some form of opposition.
