Review of Rnd 5 v's Lara

SENIORS;

In pretty good conditions at Drew Reserve, the boys had a terrific first quarter against Lara, and if not for some inaccurate kicking the game would have been well and truly over by ¼ time. 17 scoring shots to 1 was a reflection of our domination, but a return of 6.11 kept Lara in with a slight chance. After quarter time, the game evened up, with St Joeys going on to win comfortably by 62 points. Best players on the day were Tom Hornsey, kicking 7 goals, Brett Jackman, Josh Rudd, Ben Capra, Hayden Foss and Andrew Hodgson. This Sunday sees us take on reigning premier St Marys at West Kardinia in what shapes up to be a huge game.

RESERVES;

Another week where we did not string 4 quarters together. Despite this the boys did fight to the end and got within winning range late in the game. The side was well served by the veteran Simon Flack at full back and again it was our young brigade of Bowles, Vinnicombe, Casey, and Malone who kept us in the game. We look forward to improved results over the next month.

U/18’s;

Both under 18 sides recorded good wins on the weekend with the "As" putting together a 4 quarter performance against Lara. Ryan Marino was outstanding across half back well supported by Daniel Courtney and Lucky Stankovic who both enjoyed good games. Den Darrington who was tagged for most of the day showed good concentration and finished the day on top of his opponent.

Cam Tudor continued his good start to the season with a solid performance mainly in the ruck and forward and Rhys Hultgren continues to be the standout player with solid marking at CHF. Ant littore enjoyed the freedom of playing on ball and was also in the best. With a heavy load of club and School football we are starting to see some injuries within the group,this allowed for Tom Bates to play his first game up from the "B" side and the recall of Dan Holyroyd added new enthusiasm within the group.

James Finn was the star of the "B" side kicking an amazing 15 goals against Ocean Grove who beat our boys just three weeks ago. The turn around of form was pleasing as the side shows rapid improvement giving many boys the opportunity to play in the Saturday side. Mitho is very pleased with how his side is travelling and looks forward to continued improvement.
