The infamous Annual St. Joseph’s Ladies’ Lunch was held on Saturday, June 21, and was deemed an outstanding success. This event just grows each year, from a handful of women in the mid-1980s, to the 185 women on Saturday who sat down to a beautiful 2-course meal provided by Capri. It is absolutely fantastic that we can accommodate up to 200 people to sit at tables in our clubrooms – a far cry from the “good old days”!
Those lucky enough to have a window table were treated to the spectacle
of Joeys beating top-of-the-ladder Bell Park – though we’re still not
sure if Jane Fitzgerald (wife of Bell Park coach, John, and mother of
senior Joeys player, James) thought it was a treat. If she had $1.00
for each time she was asked who she was barracking for on Saturday –
well let’s say she’d probably be about $180 richer!
We had women from all areas of the Club – from those who have been
around since the beginning, to those in their first year of their sons
playing U-9s – and it was great to see .
Judging from the fact that no-one had moved from their tables at 5.00,
and there was very little room for the after-match drinks and awards, a
good time was had by all, and we will be gearing up for another great
day next year!!
