Tough day against Lara ends with fun at the 80s night put on by the playing group.
In football, our senior side had a strong win that with straight kicking could have resulted in a bigger margin, but we always struggle against Lara who seem to match us up well every time we play. The on-ball brigade were outstanding with Brett Jackman, Christian Shaw, Torin Baker & Tom Baulding playing well. The Reserves came back to earth with a thud, though again they fought the game out well with young James Fitzgerald playing well kicking 5, and Aaron Torpy back to his best. The U18s lost concentration in the last 10 minutes of the game to go down by 2 points, and there is still plenty of improvement in these young lads. Darcy Purser and Xav Fowler were amongst the best. Luke Maddens U18 Bs got back on the winners list defeating Bell Park, with Nichols and the Holroyd brothers playing great games. These boys are providing great support to Hilly’s 18As, and collectively provide a strong future for our club- keep up the good work guys!
In netball, the A graders bubble finally burst, with injury, and below expectation performance resulting in our first loss. The Lara girls were fantastic opposition, and gave us a timely reminder that we have to keep getting better if we are to achieve the ultimate goal. Once again Courtney Howard, Katie Rossiter & Kirsten Hood were amongst the best. The B graders drew on Saturday, but it was fantastic to see Brooke Evans back on the court. Jackie King, and Soph Okeefe were amongst the best, The C & D graders got back on the winners list this week with Rachael Bell having a great game in the Cs and Rachael Mahoney & Grace Buckley playing great games in D grade.
Social: The 80s night was a lot of fun on Saturday so congratulations to Nerissa Tomlinson & friends for putting the night on. Everyone got into the spirit and got dressed up, with the male winner being Club Captain Corey Bauer, reminding us what we looked like when we hit the ski slopes back in the 80s. Tom Baulding brought Evil Knieval back to life, and Stanka looked every bit the part as Top Gun Maverick. The girls also dressed up with parachute tracksuits back in vogue, and there were plenty of Madonna look a likes, but how Tracey Hovey escaped the judge is beyond me! Great Night- well done netball & football players!
