An outstanding day of netball for St Joseph’s has seen us move to the top of the Club Championship. It is a great result for the club and something we will be striving to maintain over the coming weeks. No doubt about it, Us Day was a raging success with wins in all games, huge huddles and a massive game of elimination. Congrats to Elly Richardson and Emma Hayes for fighting out the hotly contested final. Our A Grade girls found themselves in unfamiliar territory with no short arms in the back half but Katie Rossiter stood up and they came away with the win. Our B grade team registered one of their biggest wins in the last couple of seasons with Miss Fix-It O’Keefe appearing to now be putting bibs on at random. Well done to our C Grade girls on a close win over tough opposition. A very well coached match by Bec Collins saw Jennah Ruggles adapt well to her new team. The D Grade juggernaut keeps rolling on with Alicia Carlyle seemingly being able to throw the bibs up the in the air at every break. Through all this, Stav keeps racking up the votes.

Our star netballer Brooke Evans, and her partner Luke Buckland are proud parents of a little boy, Cruz Bailey.
Nervous Nanny Toni was on hand with the hot towels and laughing gas- thankfully, as the rumour has it that Luke stayed up at the non-strikers end for the entire innings! Talk about a mixed up family...Luke Buckland is a star premiership player with South Barwon and Popp is a one- eyed Grovey Tigers fan ( come on Brian we know your middle name is Joey!)...congratulations to the whole family. |

Despite leading our footballers through a gruelling pre- season, coach Mark Hovey was no respect by his matchday assistants at Lara in Round 1. "Hoves has had an armchair ride all summer, so it was our turn for the comfy seats"...said assistant Chris Humphrey. However, when Hoves takes delivery of his new Signature Homes Coaches Box at Drew Reserve (expected round 3), Bear & Darren are hoping to get a seat alongside the Boss without retribution! Jared Stanley could be in line for a promotion boys..so look out! |

Emotional scenes took place in the dressing rooms before the 2nds clash against Lara in round 1. The club dedicated the day to the memory of champion bloke & clubman, Mick Carmody, who's life was tragically taken on the eve of Christmas 2007 in a tragic accident. Mick's sister, Marita, conveyed a few words on behalf of the Carmody family alongside Premiership coach, Greg Cracknell, and a new gurnsey no 32 was issued to young gun- Jake Hawkins who went out and played a blinder. President Mark Jackman also addressed the group highlighting just how important the club colours and a simple number on the back can mean so much to people and encouraged all St Joseph's players to wear the club gurnsey with pride! Our thoughts are with Virginia Spiller, Micks partner, and the Carmody family. |

Last week saw some more great results, especially for the senior girls with all four having wins. Currently, 3 of our 4 senior teams are sitting on top of the ladder. Vikki Madden again showed why she was last year’s league best & fairest with a dominating performance in A Grade. And that fiery red head in the goal ring is certainly “firing” up. |
