SENIORS
Saturday we ventured out to Windsor Park to take on North Shore. The day was a special one, particularly for one of St Joeys favorite sons in Luke Forbes and an up-and-coming star of the future in Jono Casey. Luke tragically injured his knee in the pre-season last year and required a re-construction and after 18 months on the side lines, made his long awaited comeback. Coming on and off the bench, he played up forward and had a few shots on goal, and finished with one for the afternoon. This was a significant step forward for him and the club and happy he got through well. As for Jono, he is another junior that has debuted in the last 18 months. He was our U/18 captain in 2008, and after some outstanding games in the reserves, started on the ground and fitted straight in and was really solid in his first game.

SENIORS;
In pretty good conditions at Drew Reserve, the boys had a terrific first quarter against Lara, and if not for some inaccurate kicking the game would have been well and truly over by ¼ time. 17 scoring shots to 1 was a reflection of our domination, but a return of 6.11 kept Lara in with a slight chance. After quarter time, the game evened up, with St Joeys going on to win comfortably by 62 points. Best players on the day were Tom Hornsey, kicking 7 goals, Brett Jackman, Josh Rudd, Ben Capra, Hayden Foss and Andrew Hodgson. This Sunday sees us take on reigning premier St Marys at West Kardinia in what shapes up to be a huge game.

Congratulations needs to go to both clubs for all the work that went into the first clash for the Anzac Day Cup. Fortunately the weather held off for the official ceremony prior to the senior game, and as expected the main game was a great battle.

Seniors
The games against Newtown are always hard fought, and Saturday was no exception. We got off to a good start, and the lead should have been greater at ¼ time but for our inaccuracy. 2nd quarter was similar, with Streety controlling the ruck giving our on-ballers first use of the footy. In the 2nd half, our goal kicking again wasn’t great, but managed to pull away and win by 54 points. Our defence was fantastic all day, led by our captain Cory Bauer, the Lovick brothers, Dean Stankavic and 16 year old Keiran Paliouras. In the middle Streety and our smaller brigade worked really hard, with Hayden Foss playing his best game since returning to the club, Torin, Josh Rudd and Brett Jackman getting plenty of the footy.
For Reserves and U/18's.......
